PROCESSING ARCHIVIST
The Donald C. & Elizabeth M. Dickinson Research Center seeks an Archivist
to process textual, photographic and digital collections; create descriptions,
EAD encoded finding aids, and catalog records; and assist with records
management and collection development.
Required Qualifications
ALA-accredited MLIS, or relevant Master's degree with coursework
in archives management; Demonstrated experience in an archives or Special
Collections arranging and describing archival collections; demonstrated
experience applying EAD, and familiarity with DACS and MARC; Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Ability to
function as a contributing team member in a production-oriented environment;
Demonstrated initiative to complete projects; Excellent research, writing,
and oral communication skills; Excellent interpersonal skills; Working
knowledge of preservation standards, legal issues related to archival
material, and issues related to digital conversion of archival materials;
Working knowledge of historical research methodology and experience
with standard bibliographic tools; Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
and tolerate dust and inactive mold spores.
Preferred Qualifications
ACA certification; Practical experience in MARC 21 cataloging, the use
of LCSH and the application of DACS. Demonstrated experience in preservation.
General knowledge of scanning, current scanning standards, and electronics
records management. Knowledge of, or experience in digital archive preservation.
Knowledge of Western History, Rodeo or Native Americans.
