Ornamental Chasing and Silver Repoussé Workshop
Feb 11 2009 - Feb 14 2009
The annual workshops held at the Museum will focus on the arts of the silversmith in 2009. On February 11-14, the Museum, in cooperation with the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association, presents an exclusive ornamental chasing and repoussé workshop led by internationally recognized artist Valentin Yotkov of New York City.
This ancient technique is currently experiencing a renaissance among many artists of metalwork. During these intensive, hands-on sessions, students will develop basic to advanced skills in the execution of ornamental chasing and repoussé designs. Good chasing tools are not commercially available so participants will be introduced to the process of making the necessary tools, their different shapes and applications. Enrollment for this workshop is limited to 12 participants.
During the week prior to the annual TCAA exhibition and sale, September 22-25, a silver engraving workshop, for all levels of ability, was led by TCAA members Mark Drain and David Alderson.
Advanced reservations are required for workshops. For further information and enrollment call (405) 478-2250, Ext. 219.
Enrollment $400.00.
